You may upload several resumes and other documents.
If you would like your resume critiqued by a career counselor, just stop by the Career Development Center at either the Lake Shore or Water Tower Campus during walk-in hours, and a counselor will review it with you.
Viewing Jobs & Internships
You may view job and internship opportunities via eRecruiting. Select Jobs & Internships from the top gray navigation bar. We recommend that you select one of the search options on the left sidebar menu, rather than the basic search.
New jobs and internships are posted daily, so make it a point to log in and check frequently. Consider setting one or more search agents for e-mail notification of new listings which match your desired positions.
Search Tips
- The basic search screen searches all Experience.com jobs or internships: positions posted for and by employers registered with Loyola, positions employers have paid Experience to post and positions pulled from their partners, including HotJobs, CareerBuilder and Dice. These positions are located all over the U.S.
- If you are looking for positions in Chicago, we recommend that you select Jobs & Internships Posted by Career Center from the left sidebar menu or one of the other options in the "More Search Options" box.
- Leave the "Location" and "State" fields blank. Many employers do not complete these fields, which means your search for jobs/internships in "Chicago" or any other location will not match with the listing.
- If you don't get expected results with a "Job Function" selection, try entering a word or phrase in "Keywords" instead.
- Use as few search criteria as possible. Start with just one criterion (e.g., job function). Each additional criterion you select will further narrow the results. In other words, a job needs to match all the search criteria you enter. If you enter two criteria (e.g., job function and industry), the job will need to have both of those criteria to match the search.
- If you wish to select more than one item on a scrolldown list (e.g., job function), hold down the Ctrl key and select each item.
- Saved Search: When you find a search that returns appropriate jobs or internships, enter the search criteria and click the Save Search button on the top of the search screen before clicking the Search Screen.
- Name your search.
- Run this search by selecting it on the "Saved Searches" list on the right side of the Job & Internship screen. You won't need to complete the search screen each time.
- Search Agent: When you save a search, you will be asked if you wish to receive e-mail notification of new jobs/internships that match the search criteria as they are added to eRecruiting.
- You may create up to 10 saved searches and search agents.
- When you receive internships by e-mail, click on the link in the e-mail. Your Web browser will open with the eRecruiting login screen. Log in and the system will open the e-mailed position.
Web Resume Books
eRecruiting allows you to submit a resume to searchable Web resume books. Employers sometimes contact the Career Development Center about an open position and ask us to send them resumes of candidates qualified to fill it. Referred resumes are selected from the eRecruiting Web resume books that match the employer's criteria. The employer then contacts the candidates directly for interviews. On-Campus Recruiting
Some employers set up a formal on-campus interview date with the On-Campus Recruiting (OCR) program. On-campus recruiting begins in October and February and runs throughout the semester. OCR is managed via eRecruiting.
To participate in OCR, you will need to complete your registration profile, upload one or more resumes, and request interviews by applying for jobs or interships with an OCR schedule attached to them. Positions with OCR schedules have an icon under the schedule column in the job search results screen.
OCR interviews have strict timelines. Often the application ending date is at least a week prior to the date of the interviews. After employers have selected whom they wish to interview, there is a short time for candidates to sign up for interview time slots. If you are interested in an OCR position, pay close attention to these dates.
