In addition, each Core course is expected to reinforce learning of effective skills, including communication, critical thinking, ethical awareness, information literacy, quantitative and qualitative analysis and research methods, and technological literacy.

Navigating the Guide

To navigate the Core Curriculum Guide, choose Knowledge Areas, Skills Development or Values Areas from the menu at right. Then, click on a specific area or value to see learning outcomes, competencies you would gain by completing the area or value, and a list of courses that satisfy the requirement.

The Core Curriculum Guide is updated frequently, so check back here for the latest Core Curriculum information. To view an online version of the Core Curriculum Guide booklet, click here (PDF).

Values Across the Curriculum

Understanding and promoting the values central to a Loyola education should also be part of one's undergraduate studies at Loyola. The values course-requirements can be completed through the Core, the major, the minor, or electives, and may include co-curricular experiences that are assigned academic credit.
