CUERP invites you to attend our monthly meetings. CUERP affiliated faculty, staff and students participate in sharing updates of on-going projects, discuss new initiatives, and announce special events.

Seminars are a part of the CUERP monthly meetings. Each seminar brings meeting participants the opportuntiy to learn about exciting research taking place in the region and Loyola faculty research projects.

Conferences
CUERP collaborates with scientists, policy makers and teachers from all levels of government, other universities, K-12 schools, NGOs and the private sector. Ideal opportunities for CUERP faculty, staff, and students to meet and collaborate with experts are to attend conferences held in the region. Many of the conferences CUERP attend relate to the exploration in environmental research, education, policy and advancements of technological tools for research projects.
Chicago Wilderness CONGRESS
Congress is the premier event to highlight the resources, science, and collaborative conservation action of the Chicago Wilderness consortium. CUERP is an Executive Council Member of Chicago Wilderness and participates in many membership activities and Congress provides the opportunity to build partnerships and learn of the dynamic projects taking place in the region that ensure the well being of nature and people.
GreenTown: The Future of Community
Loyola University Chicago's Sustainability Committee members attended the conference, GreenTown: The Future of Community and listen to architects, regional municipal representatives and officials, and planners discuss applicable designs to create eco-effective communities.
Wild Things: A Chicago Wilderness Conference for People and Nature
A team of CUERP faculty, staff, and students attended and volunteered at the Wild Things Conference in March 2007. The day-long conference featured more than 80 sessions drawn from real-life experiences related to habitat management, botany, neighborhood and backyard ecology, education, zoology and many more topics. An educational experience for all.
Focus the Nation: Launching a National Initiative
Loyola students committed to creating a sustainable unversity and beyond attended a Focus the Nation workshop in Ann Arbor, Michigan on February 17, 2007. Students and faculty from the Great Lakes region came together to discuss and explore issues related to climate change under the guise of the project Focus the Nation. This one year initiative is calling for universities and other institutions throughout the United States to engage in course work and activities to heighten the social implications and responsibilities of climate change and its impact. The outcome of the project will encourage policy and political decision-makers to implement effective environmental and energy policies at the local, regional, and national levels.
