About Us

ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Loyola University Chicago's English as a Second Language (ESL) Program offers a rigorous, intensive curriculum for people who are serious about learning English. Our ESL Program is ideal for non-native speakers of English preparing for university study in the U.S.
Students receive support from experienced language instructors and enhance their English language skills as a result of superior training and hands-on learning opportunities.
Loyola's ESL classes meet the needs of individuals with at least a high-intermediate level of English language skill. All applicants must demonstrate skill level by submitting a test score (TOEFL 50, IELTS 5) or completing the English Level Verification Form.
Our Academic Year program during the fall and spring semesters is open to individuals with at least a high-intermediate level of English and an interest in studying in a Loyola degree program in the future. Current Loyola students are also welcome to take ESL Program classes for extra language skill development.
We also offer a Summer Intensive Program for students preparing for academic or professional work in English at Loyola or at other universities.
All ESL Program classes are currently being offered at our beautiful Lake Shore Campus along Lake Michigan on the north side of Chicago.
