Philip H. Corboy Lectures
The annual Philip H. Corboy Lecture features a prominent speaker on some aspect of advocacy, and is open to the professional community. The Corboy Lectures were established as part of the Philip H. Corboy Fellowship program. The first lectures took place during the 1995-96 academic year.
In 2007, the lecture was given by former Illinois Supreme Court Chief Justice and Loyola alumna Mary Ann G. McMorrow, who spoke on "Truth in Advocacy."
On Monday, September 29, 2008, Kevin Conway, partner at the Chicago law firm of Cooney & Conway and a Loyola alumnus, will give the 14th annual Corboy Lecture, entitled "Advocacy Behind the Courtroom Door: A Trial Lawyer's Duty to Study and Shape Public Opinion."
Meet the Lawyers
Each semester, the Loyola Circle of Advocates Board hosts a "Meet the Lawyers Advocacy Event" open to all Loyola law students, where leading attorneys and judges from the Chicago legal community are invited to participate in a panel discussion focusing on a specific area of advocacy. These events, which are unique to Loyola, give students who are interested in advocacy the opportunity to hear about the panelists' experiences, as well as ask questions and meet the panelists at a reception which immediately follows each event. A lists of panelists present at previous "Meet the Lawyers" events is below.
