Alumni Awards Program
The School of Nursing Alumni Board, Loyola University Chicago seeks to recognize and honor alumni of the school through the Awards Program. Currently, two awards, the Distinguished Alumnus Award and the Spirit of Ignatius Award, are presented to alumni to recognize individuals for their contributions for the betterment of the School. Alumni awards are presented each fall at the Dedication to the Profession ceremony.
Distinguished Alumnus Award
The Distinguished Alumnus Award is the most prestigious acknowledgment of the accomplishments of our nursing alumni. This award is presented to an alumnus who has brought pride and recognition to School of Nursing, Loyola University Chicago by having achieved prominence in nursing on a regional, national, or international level. One award is given each year.
The criteria for the award are:
- Alumna/Alumnus of the Niehoff School of Nursing, Loyola University Chicago
- Sustained record of accomplishments in nursing education, research or practice
- Continuing interest in Neihoff School of Nursing, Loyola University Chicago
- Possessing such integrity and stature that the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the school will take pride in, and are inspired by his/her recognition
The Spirit of Ignatius Award is intended to be presented annually to an alumnus of the school of nursing who best characterizes Curas Personalis or "Care of the Person".
The criteria for the award are:
- Promotes the mission of Loyola University and the School of Nursing through word, action, and deed
- Is present to others, be they colleagues, students and other university constituents
- Displays a spirit of charity to others
- Through example, engenders in others their desire to perform at their best.
Each year the Alumni Award Committee, Niehoff School of Nursing Alumni Board seeks nominations from alumni and from faculty and staff who may know of a deserving alumnus. Alumni are encouraged to nominate anyone they feel meets the criteria for selection. Letters of recommendation in support of the candidate are encouraged. CV is required for Distinguished Alumnus Award candidates. For the Spirit of Ignatius Award, endorsements from individuals outside of the school of nursing attesting to the nominee�s characteristics as an individual who "cares for the person" can be attached to the narrative, but not in excess of three testimonials.

Selection Process
The Alumni Award Committee, School of Nursing Alumni Board will review the nominations according to the criteria and make recommendations to the Board for final approval. The individual selected will be invited to attend the Dedication to the Profession ceremony.
