Relationship to Other Governance Documents
In those cases where the provisions of this Charter are inconsistent with the Faculty Handbook or any other University governance documents or policies that may exist, this provisional charter shall take precedence. The most evident example that needs clarification pertains to the Committee on Faculty Appointments. It shall be understood that this Charter moves the locus of faculty policy development from the CFA to the newly constituted Faculty Affairs UPC. Other CFA duties will be assigned to specific individuals or to two newly created committees. For example, an elected University Rank and Tenure Committee will have the responsiblity to review and recommend on individual faculty petitions for promotion and tenure. Attached to this charter is a document that clarifies the transfer of functions from the CFA to the Faculty Affairs UPC, University Rank and Tenure Committee, Faculty Development Review Committee, and other individuals.
