Bangkok and Thailand- Thailand is strategically located in the heart of Southeast Asia and, due to its impressive economic growth, is an important center of the region. Bangkok, in particular, is a capital of trade, tourism and academic activity that has links with other parts of Asia and is quickly becoming the Gateway to Indochina.

Bangkok or Krung Thep, which means the City of Angels was constructed in 1782 or 221 years ago. Presently, Bangkok has a population of approximately 10 million and it is considered one of the biggest cities in the world. Thailand has a population of 60 million people, 95% of whom are Buddhist. Although industrialization and modernization have brought a competitive and restless lifestyle to Bangkok, one can still find beautiful temples and palaces among the skyscrapers. The saying that Thailand is the land of smiles is still true, especially in the rural areas where traditional agrarian lifestyles survive. While southern Thailand is famous for its seaside resorts, the north is well known for its peaceful mountains and hill-tribe treks. Thailand is a tourist gateway and the friendliness of Thai people makes travel in Thailand and the surrounding region easy.
