Program Costs

Exchange Programs - Students pay the same tuition to attend an Exchange University as they would during a typical semester or year at Loyola, plus an additional $1000 Loyola Study Abroad Fee for year and semester programs or $500 for summer programs. Room and board is paid directly to the host institution. Airfare is a separate expense, not included in the price of tuition.

USAC Programs - Each USAC program has a designated tuition amount. Generally the tuition does not include room and board except on a few occasions. Tuition ranges between $1,495 and $11,680, plus there is an additional $1000 Loyola Study Abroad Fee added on to the cost of every yearlong and semester program. The summer Loyola Study Abroad Fee is $500. Airfare is a separate expense, not included in the tuition or fees.

IES Programs - Each IES program has a designated tuition amount, which is different from Loyola tuition. Tuition costs do not include room and board, health insurance, airfare, and other miscellaneous costs. All IES programs have a $50 application fee but this can be waived if you fill out an online application. There is an additional $1000 Loyola Study Abroad Fee added on to the cost of every semester and yearlong program, and the summer Loyola Study Abroad Fee is $500.

The John Felice Rome Center - Click on the program name to visit the Rome Center Website for cost information.

There is a $100 Loyola Study Abroad Fee in addition to overall tuition costs. Airfare is a separate expense, not included in the tuition or fee.

Casa de la Solidaridad (Affiliate Program) - Tuition for each semester (2006-2007 academic year) is $13,600, which includes shared housing, complete meals, several cultural excursions and field trips, extended orientation and re-entry programs, and coverage on Santa Clara University's travel insurance coverage policy. $500.00 Summer

IES Programs: $1000.00 Semester and Full year
$500 Summer

Rome Center: $100 Summer, Semester and Full year (Fee will be collected as a portion of the $500 deposit rather than billed.)

Generally, students who participate in more than one study abroad program will be assessed the fee for each program.  However, the maximum amount in study abroad fees a student will be charged is $1000 with the exception of the Rome Center and The Beijing Center programs.  For example, a student going on an Exchange program sophomore year and a Beijing Center program junior year will be billed $100 and $1000.  A student going on an Affiliate program Fall semester and an IES program Spring semester will be billed $100 in the Fall and $900 in the Spring.

Program Deposits

In order to process all study abroad applications, a $200.00 deposit must be made out to Loyola University Chicago (except for The Rome Center and The Beijing Center).  The deposit demonstrates the student's seriousness as a study abroad candidate.  It will be credited toward the student's tuition for the study abroad term.  The deposit will be processed soon after it is received by the Office for International Programs.  Applicants whose deposit has been cashed does not necessarily indicate that the Office for International Programs has received all pieces of the application and that the application is being reviewed.  If a student withdraws from a program prior to departure, the deposit will roll over to the student's Loyola University Chicago tuition charges for the student's next enrolled academic term.

For the Rome Center, The Beijing Center, and some other programs, a deposit is required after the student is admitted to the program.
