Build on your strengths.  Enhance your network.  Sharpen your skills.  Take advantage of opportunities.

The School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) and the Gannon Center for Women & Leadership announce The Certificate in Women’s Leadership, a collaborative effort that creates a unique opportunity for Chicago’s women leaders to sharpen their leadership skills among women peers.

Environment does matter.  The Gannon Center for Women & Leadership boasts a strong set of programs and events to celebrate, encourage, support, and grow the leadership potential of women.  SCPS is home to continuum, the continuing education program of Loyola University Chicago, that extends the university’s resources to the larger community.  The Gannon Center for Women & Leadership and Continuum strive individually – and now – collaboratively, to meet Loyola’s mission to prepare people to lead extraordinary lives.

Program Benefits

With The Certificate in Women’s Leadership, you can:

  • Build Your Network:  By enhancing your relationship network, you will have the opportunity to extend your associations through interactions with leaders who are your peer program participants, program faculty, and guest speakers.
  • Have the Best of Both Worlds:  Why settle?  We believe it is important that leaders be rounded.
The Certificate for Women’s Leadership will hone your knowledge of modern leadership theory AND strengthen your leadership skills.
The Women's Leadership certificate also offers:
  • Reflective Tools - From self-assessment to feedback from faculty and your peer group, we want you to gain insight into who you are and how others perceive you.
  • The Benefit of Experience – Our faculty are practitioners in their fields and experienced educators, skilled in the areas they teach and in creating a supportive learning environment.
  • Theory – In leadership, understanding why is as important as knowing how. We are proud to offer a program that strengthens your knowledge of modern leadership theory and exercises your critical thinking skills.
  • Peer Learning – It is lonely at the top, especially if you are the only woman. Join other leaders in a unique opportunity to engage one another in a learning environment that seeks to build personal strengths, relationships, and vision.
  • Targeted Workshops – Two workshops will be created throughout the year on topics that you designate as a group.  These workshops give us the opportunity to collaborate with you on target areas of interest.
  • Personal Action Plan – You will create and begin the implementation of an action plan.  Reflection and assessment are key components to this program.  Your action plan will mirror the vitality of great strategic plans through measurable goals, time commitment, and regular reassessment.
  • Receive Support In and Out of the Classroom - As part of this program, you have multiple ongoing opportunities to interact with your peers and with faculty.  Our program utilizes Blackboard learning technology to enhance your in-class experience.
